Clabrate is free. Get the signed DMG from the downloads page.
Install on your Mac
Clabrate requires an Apple silicon Mac (M1 or newer) and macOS 11 or later. Intel Macs are not supported. Download the DMG, drag Clabrate into Applications and open it. The downloads page links the release manifest and checksum if you want to verify the file.
Verify email first
Clabrate opens with email sign-in before the permission and model setup. Request a code, check your inbox and enter the code in the app. Codes expire after 10 minutes and work once. The Privacy Policy and Terms are linked before you continue. No payment card or license key is requested. You must be 16 or older.
The first verification needs a connection; there is no offline first sign-in. If sign-in is unavailable or the email does not arrive, try again or contact support@clabrate.com. Once you have verified, the on-device features keep working on that Mac when you are offline, signed out, or your session has expired.
Permissions and models
macOS asks before Clabrate can use each of these. Setup prompts you for them and opens the right pane in System Settings → Privacy & Security. Grant only the optional ones you want.
| Permission | Required? | Why Clabrate needs it |
|---|---|---|
| Microphone | Required | To hear you dictate and talk to the assistant |
| Accessibility | Required | To type your words into other apps, read the text you have selected, and move windows when you ask |
| Input Monitoring | Required | To notice your dictation shortcut |
| Screen Recording | Optional | For screenshots sent to the assistant |
| Automation | Optional | To read the page address from your browser, for the dictation modes and transforms that use it |
| Focus | Optional | To see whether a Focus mode is on, so Spot stays out of your way |
Granting a permission does not send anything anywhere. The Privacy Policy lists what each one lets Clabrate read. If a permission seems stuck, see Troubleshooting.
The speech-to-text model (494 MB) downloads the first time you open the app, so stay connected for that first launch; download any other on-device models you choose. Then hold right Option to dictate at a text cursor. Configure assistant shortcuts and enabled tools in Settings. Cloud Voice is optional and needs a signed-in Clabrate account and a connection.
Another Mac or account
Verify on each Mac you install Clabrate on. Signing out keeps the on-device features working. Deleting your account signs that Mac out until you verify an email address again. Your settings and Spot Collection stay on each Mac; your account does not sync them.
