Push-to-talk
The walkie-talkie approach, your way. Hold the right ⌥ key and release when you’re done — or tap once to start and tap again to send. Take as long as you need to fully form your thought; Clabrate never interrupts your train of thought.
Talk through an idea, ask a follow-up, and work with the tools you enable. Optional Cloud Voice adds speech-to-speech conversation on your Clabrate account. Dictation runs on your Mac and puts finished text wherever your cursor is.
Free · verify your email once · on-device features then work offline
Dictate when you want words at the cursor. Turn on Cloud Voice when you want a spoken conversation that can work with enabled tools.

Dictation is transcribed on your Mac. Enhancement stays on-device by default, or you can choose a cloud provider for it. If you turn on Cloud Voice, your audio, the conversation and tool results go to its provider. The Mac app counts how it is used only if you turn that on: which features and built-in tools you use, never what you say, type or see. It is off unless you turn it on. Rewarded ads in Spot on Android are separate: when it shows the ad provider’s consent tool or an ad, the provider’s SDK collects information from your phone to show and measure ads. The website, clabrate.com, uses Google Analytics. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, and where we cannot tell which country you are in, it stays off until you accept. Elsewhere it is on unless you turn it off or your browser sends a privacy signal.
Rewrite your words to a chosen style as they’re transcribed — from raw thought to a clean sentence.
Protect the names, jargon, and spellings you care about so they’re always written your way.
Adapts the rewrite to the app you’re dictating into — an email reads like an email, a commit like a commit.
Talk through an idea and use the tools you enable: work with Herdr agents, query your docs, adjust settings or act on your workspace. Local profiles and optional Cloud Voice have different data paths.
A searchable record of what you dictate, once you turn it on — kept on your Mac, for your eyes only.
Search settings, tune shortcuts and models, and work with boards and terminal panes. Spot adds optional colours, looks and tricks; cosmetics never change transcription or tool access.

Hi, I’m Brenton. I work on Clabrate at nights and weekends, with a few AI agents helping out.
I’m around AI evaluations all day, so this stuff is on my radar. Mac’s built-in dictation is alright, but it has quirks that make you lose your train of thought. I’d seen newer dictation apps that looked fast — words landing as you speak — though I hadn’t used them myself. What actually got to me was the voice modes bolted onto other apps: pause for a second and they auto-send, before you’ve finished the thought. Then you have to pick it back up and get going again.
So I figured I’d build my own. Partly for the challenge, partly because building it myself was the only way to get it exactly how I wanted.
Push-to-talk lets me decide when the thought is ready.
I’ve used it every day since. These days I barely type — I talk through problems with my AI agents, and I dump half-formed thoughts into Slack and let Clabrate clean them up.
Local dictation gets words onto the screen. Spoken conversation helps me work through what comes next.
Transcription runs on your Mac. Enhancement can too, or you can plug in your own cloud key. Spoken conversation with enabled tools runs on your Clabrate account. Clabrate is free now: verify your email once and the on-device features keep working offline.
